February 26th, 2010 by Meehan No comments »Myanmar traditional song singer Viva Hein became so popular through her album “Byo-hit-than” especially in upper Myanmar. In Yangon, she is renowned for her copy version of Tokyo Drift. You might wonder why a traditional song singer would sing that kind of song.

Viva Hein, Myanmar traditional song signer and celebrity
Well, maybe that’s what makes her popular enough to perform 20 shows a month. And her dancing skill, that’s another reason for her popularity. She said she learnt dance from J-Lo, Britney and Shakira. (By watching their music videos of course.)
Now, her second album is in process to release. So let’s wait and see if that album could make her perform 30 shows a month.

Myanmar director Nyi Nyi Htun Lwin
As we all know recently in Myanmar, 7 Academy awards were given for the year 2008. Surprisingly, out of 7 awards, 4 awards are connected with director Nyi Nyi Htun Lwin.
Because Khant Sithu (Best leading actor), Khin Moh Moh Aye (Best supporting actress) and Myet Chel Film Production Company (Best film) were awarded for the film directed “A-Myar-Ne`-Ma-Thet-Sine-Thaw-Thu”.
And Nyi Nyi Htun Lwin, himself, was awarded as Best director for that film too. So, in a way, we can say that the films he directed won 4 Academy awards.
(4 awards!! That’s even more than 50% of the total count.) It is too rare a case in Myanmar Academy awarding history as I remember.
So let us all congratulate him. And tell me what your opinion is_ “Was year 2008 the year of Nyi Nyi Htun Lwin?”
